TDS Meter (Handheld)
Know your water before you wash. This handheld meter reads total dissolved solids (TDS) in parts per million, so you can run the DI calculator on your real water and know exactly when your resin is spent.
Product description:
TDS is the mineral load in your water: the calcium, magnesium, sodium and salts that stay behind as spots when a rinse dries. This meter puts a number on it.
Use it two ways
Before you buy: test your outdoor spigot and plug the reading into our DI Water Calculator. You'll get an estimate of how many gallons and washes a cartridge set will give you on your water, not an average.
After you own a system: check the water coming out of your Spotless unit while it's flowing. A reading of 000 means your resin is doing its job. Once it reads above zero, it's time for new resin or a filter exchange.
How to test
- Remove the cap and turn the meter on.
- Dip the probe into a clean cup of water, or into the stream from your hose nozzle.
- Wait a few seconds for the reading to settle and note the ppm.
- Rinse the probe, dry it, and replace the cap.
TDS changes with the season, rainfall and your water source, so retest a few times a year.

Good to know
This meter reports total dissolved solids only. It doesn't identify which minerals are in your water, and it isn't a test for drinking water safety or contamination. For that, use a certified lab.
